Legal Education Project for Young artists: Whilst the issue of exploitation in the music industry is not limited to young rappers, because of the inequities in education and the economic disparities that exist, black musicians, in particular rappers, are disproportionately affected. The aim of this project is to counteract these issues and to empower young musicians by providing them with legal education which they can use to better negotiate music contracts with record labels and earn a living from their craft.
The workshops would also assist them in building connections within the music industry, networking with other artists and learning important transferable skills which might assist them in other aspects of their lives. We are working in conjunction with Clifford Chance and others who are currently creating and looking to deliver the sessions.
